Sail on Spirit of Dana Point

Adventure Sail on Spirit of Dana Point Time: 10:00am-12:00pm

Set sail with OI for an unforgettable family adventure! Start with a muster and dive into hands-on activities like raising sail, navigation, helmsmanship, and bow watch. Enjoy a thrilling demonstration of the ship’s cannon as our crew showcases naval gunnery. This exciting program is perfect for families looking to create lasting memories on the open water. Join us for a day of adventure and fun! Tickets: $40, Infants (0-18mo): $10

Join us on Ocean Institute's Maddie James Seaside Learning Center Historic Maritime Wharf for waterfront taps and tastes! Enjoy food for purchase from Delanya's BBQ, and drinks for purchase from local breweries.

Sip and savor waterfront or onboard the Spirit of Dana Point for an afternoon like no other!

General Admission Activities include:

  • Gray Whale Museum: Migrate over to our courtyard to see gray whale artifacts, images, and understand just how large these gentle giants are!

  • Artifact Restoration Station: Learn from our expert curators just what it takes to restore and maintain our whale artifacts. Try it out for yourself and help us work on restoring our beloved gray whale skeletal specimen – Gray-Sea!

  • Shark Senses: Sharks are known for their incredible senses – explore these senses and others with our VR exhibit – Senses of the Sea.

  • Fish Finder: Explore tanks of local animals and learn what makes each fish uniquely adapted to their homes! From camouflage to body shape, find out everything there is to know!
